Griffs career as a professional DJ has spanned 20 years. After growing up on the edge on London and coming into contact with the jazz dance music that was thriving there towards the end of the eighties, he started collecting. After meeting up with Pete Isaac whilst at university he became resident DJ at Plymouth’s legendary funk, soul and jazz night called Jelly Jazz. Running weekly for 14 years the clubnight introduced generations of young people to jazz, soul, funk, latin, brazilian, ska, and afrofunk and gained an international reputation. Griff has DJed in New York, Puerto Rico, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Chile, Bolivia and Peru…as well as all over the UK. More locally he has been a regular at events at the Eden Project and at Rick Stein’s restaurant in Padstow.
Recently he founded a new arts based clubnight called Rambunctious Social Club with his friend Lee Hodges, which aims to create a more interactive creative experience for everyone attending. Griff is also a music producer and remixer with two releases on Carnibal Records, and will be launching a record label in the near future.
